An Introduction to Video Marketing – by Wonderful Creative Agency
To put the growth of online video into context, four years ago YouTube overtook Yahoo as the second largest search engine (currently with over 3 billion views a day) – proving that many of us prefer seeing something to reading about it.
A recent survey of online retailers showed a 40% increase in direct response sales when a video of the product was included and further stats show increased response even when the video isn’t watched: because video instils customer confidence and trust. Additionally, the inclusion of video on a website results in a 200% increase in the time spent on the site, which in turn boosts Google rankings – making it 50 times more likely to reach page one.
Video is ideal for conveying company personality and can also be used on a practical level to demonstrate products and services. In the same way, displaying video on a stand at Kent 2020 Vision LIVE will provide a clear focal point, enabling immediate brand communication and presenting your company’s offerings in a creative and engaging way.
Additionally, video can be used to drive new customers to a website or social media channels – although to achieve this it really needs a viral element, providing a reason for people to send it on, or share via a social network.
That viral element can be clever, funny or even controversial – the kind of thing that you just can’t keep to yourself. These videos don’t have to be full of sales messages and may not even have much to do with the company or product being promoted. But they do need a clear call to action, most likely at the end of the video. Taking the Kent 2020 promo video as an example: we have compiled footage from the BBC archives to illustrate a theme of ‘Missing out can be frustrating’ through a series of humorous sporting accidents. But most viewers will be kept guessing about the ‘punchline’ until the final page.
Given the huge potehtial gains of using video as a promotional tool, it offers a surprisingly cost-effective way of attracting new customers, re-engaging with existing ones and raising overall awareness of a brand.
