We are pleased to announce that our opening keynote speaker for this year’s Kent 2020 Vision LIVE will be James Averdieck, founder of the hugely successful Gü desserts brand and a true entrepreneur in every sense of the word.
At our tenth Anniversary event on 13th May, James will be sharing the inspirational story of how he launched and grew Gü to become the UK’s premier luxury dessert brand – by building the business on a genuine passion for excellence and recognising how keeping promises to customers can create a powerful sense of loyalty.
For the best part of a decade, James Averdieck lived the dream as he created the fastest growing food company in the UK and a brand credited with revolutionising the quality of desserts. As founder and Managing Director of Gü Puds, he built the business with energy, personality and passion before selling the company for £32 million in 2010 – yet he still believes that the heart of entrepreneurialism lies in the idea and the journey, not the exit strategy and certainly not the final sale price.
In the process of building the Gü brand, James realised his dream of selling soufflés to the French and chocolate to the Belgians. But when he eventually sold his beloved Gü, he quickly realised that material rewards (the money, the power, the cars and the kudos) can never match the thrill of running and building a thriving business. As living proof that it’s not about the money, James now talks extremely candidly about his experiences and has already started his next exciting food venture: The Coconut Collaborative.
As an entrepreneur, James conveys a strong message about the value of loving what you do. He speaks about true entrepreneurship – how to simplify ideas with an innovative approach and how to make your dreams achievable – while sharing the ups and downs of running a business with a raw and honest appeal.
