Attendees at the county’s biggest networking breakfast – which kicks off this year’s Kent Vision LIVE event – will hear about an exciting new initiative ‘You’re Hired Kent’, designed to showcase the benefits of employing apprentices and their role in supporting business growth and success in Kent.
Set to run for 100 days, the collaboration between training providers and Colleges will provide information and support to employers, with the aim of encouraging them to pledge apprenticeships for 500 young people across the county.
Apprenticeships provide an injection of skills and training into the workforce and help aid the economic recovery. This campaign will support businesses to grow their workforce and in turn increase their productivity. Plus they give young people a recognised framework of qualifications and the basis for future sustainable employment.
To deliver this ambitious target, and the benefits it will bring, the campaign partners Kent County Council, Medway Council, Kent Association of Training Organisations (KATO) and Kent Further Education (KFE) are being supported by the National Apprenticeship Service. Working with the newly established Guilds, which focus on the key industry sectors in Kent, the campaign will raise awareness of the range of opportunities available and create new exciting apprenticeships at all levels.
To help ensure its success, the campaign will have ongoing promotion through a twitter and social media campaign. Through this, the partners will tweet apprenticeship opportunities, success stories and campaign news under the hash tag #yourehiredkent.
The Kent Vision LIVE networking breakfast, this year titled “The ‘You’re Hired Kent’ Breakfast”, is sponsored by KCC, KATO, Canterbury College and East Kent College and provides the ideal platform to launch this new initiative. Commenting on the launch, Lindsay Collins, director of operations for KATO said: “We are extremely excited about this great initiative and the potential it has to benefit not only Kent’s business community but also the young people in the county who are keen to learn and contribute to the workplace. We are delighted to be launching at the Kent Vision LIVE annual breakfast, which always brings together a great cross section of the county’s businesses.”
Limited tickets for the event are still available to exhibitors and delegates wishing to start their day with a hearty breakfast, the opportunity to network with like minded businesses and of course to find out more about ‘You’re Hired Kent’. After the breakfast, when the show opens, the team will be available on the ‘You’re Hired Kent’ stand in the Apprenticeship, Employability and Training Zone. Why not pop along, find out more and pledge your support.
