The BSK team were left tired but happy last week following a busy day at two Kent 2020 events….
The county’s – and possibly the UK’s – premiere exhibition and conference brings together Kent organisations to do business, find inspiration and share in the latest insights and practical thinking.
In addition to the long-running Kent 2020 event in May each year, Kent2020 Vision Start-Up LIVE launched in 2012 to support new and aspiring entrepreneurs – with a third element, Kent 2020 Vision Marketing LIVE, added in 2013 specifically for marketing decision-makers.
Keynote speakers at last week’s event included Kevin Byrne, founder and MD of Checktrade.com, who opened the day’s proceedings with an address entitled: Building a New Business through Innovation & Consumer Trust. Delegates applauded his stress on the importance of people and his four pillars: vision, appreciation, understanding and integrity.
The final keynote was from Tim Gregson of Microsoft, who explored the many ways in which new technologies have changed the landscape for new businesses.
“The exhibition was very well organised and the whole process was made very easy for us as an exhibitor and speaker at one of the breakout sessions. There was a good number of people at the event that we were targeting and we have more leads to follow up than we were expecting.” – Tony Kensington, Director, Aspirations Accountancy
The various workshops were very well attended, with sessions ranging from the questions you were afraid to ask when starting out, an overview of SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and the Do’s and Don’ts of Market Research. Since digital marketing is now an integral part of any company’s strategy, a key issue for many small businesses and entrepreneurs is which social media channel to focus on, and these sessions were particularly well received.
“This was the first year Whitefish Marketing took up a stand at the Kent 2020 Marketing Live, and we are highly pleased with the outcome. The event had great impact for our business in terms of both brand coverage and for orders on the day, and the event organisers were always on hand to ensure smooth running of operations behind the scenes.” – Whitefish Marketing
There was a jovial atmosphere, with exhibitors engaging the delegates with everything from dinosaurs to Rubik’s cubes, screen-printing business cards and selfie competitions. The serious business of growing their companies and connecting with like-minded entrepreneurs was undertaken with a great deal of mutual support and encouragement, and lots of new connections were made.
BSK’s Director of Commercial Services, Chris Callander said: “What really stands out to me is when you see the majority of the audience at one of the keynote sessions all taking notes throughout. This really demonstrates the value delegates gain from the event.”
The next Kent 2020 Vision LIVE event will take place on Wednesday 13th May 2015 and you can register on the website to receive updates. You can also keep in touch on Twitter by following @Kent2020.
